From the Field to Life

Image
My name is Becca Pensyl, I am a senior at CMU studying Accounting and Sport Management. Sports has been my passion since I was little. From running around on the soccer field to Sunday afternoons spent watching football, sports have made a major impact on my life. I am from Gaylord, Michigan. A small town, up north, with a great community that is more like a family. Coming from a small area and high school, I am excited to be able to represent Sacred Heart and the strong family oriented community here. I believe sports are a great way to bring a community together and grow as an individual. Since I can remember I had a soccer ball at my feet. Soccer taught me so many lessons in life, from scoring goals on the field to reaching goals in my everyday life. Unfortunately, my time playing came to a halt when I tore my ACL. As heartbreaking as the injury was, it led me to find my true passion in coaching.   I have now been a soccer coach for over four years. I love get...

More Than a Game

My name is Dan Harazin, I'm Junior at CMU studying Sport Management and Spanish, and a proud member of Los Lobos media team. One day I will work in community outreach and charities for a professional team in a Spanish speaking area. I am from a small town in Southwest Michigan called Bridgman. It is located roughly 45 minutes from the University of Notre Dame, where my father played football and got his education. Based on my life experience with my family, my Catholic faith, and my time as an athlete, the opportunity to promote and follow Sacred Heart athletics is something I am very excited about.  Faith, family, and athletics have always been key components of my life and identity. In high school, I played both football and track. High school is a very important and transformative time for young people, and athletics always gave me an outlet to practice and uphold the values my faith and family had taught me. The coaches and teammates I played for and with a...

High School Sports Changed My Life

As I have grown into the woman I am today, I have realized that athletics truly saved my life. Therefore, I found a way to turn my one true passion into a career. My name is Meredith Moore, I am 19 years old, a junior at Central Michigan University, only daughter of three, Sport Management Major/Legal Studies Minor with dreams of being an agent in the NBA.             Athletics has always been the steady stream of consistency in my life. Coming from a background that hasn’t always been the easiest to go through, basketball provided me the outlet that truly saved me. I was five years old when I attended my first basketball camp, few people get the opportunity to find their passion so young, so when I did…I let it take over. By the age of high school, I was playing year-round on 4 different teams.             It was ten years later, one week before basketball tryouts were s...
