March Madness has been in full swing the last few weeks, but the madness at SHA is about to shift from the hardwood to the track. The Sacred Heart Boy's and Girl's Track teams began official spring practices earlier this month, and soon will be competing and striving for yet another outdoor track state title. Last year, the Irish ran like mad and were able to secure another title for the Academy.

The Sacred Heart Track Squads have been securing some many "dubs" ("dub" is intended to sound like "W" the first letter in "Win") that you would think it's a game of Fortnite. I've never actually played Fortnite, but it's sweeping the nation and has millions of players online. There are two things that Sacred Heart and Fortnite have in common: they're popular, and a lot of winning happens! Stay tuned as the Sacred Heart Track Teams get ready to drop Titled and get their 2018 seasons started!

Dan Haggart Basketball has been the focus of the blog the past couple of weeks so today we are going to switch gears and get to know the SHA Athletic Director! Dan Haggart holds the title of Athletic Director and Dean of Students at Sacred Heart.  Haggart is not a stranger to SHA ... he has SHA in his genes. His mother, Betty Grisdale Haggart, was a graduate in the class of 1953.  Dan Haggart has grown up in Clare, MI and graduated from Clare High School. After high school, he attended Northwood University for four years to play football. After graduating in 1986 from Northwood, he played semi-pro football for 10 years.  After his football career was over he went back to college at Saginaw Valley to get his teaching certificate. With his new education and a little experience under his belt, he returned to Clare as their new Athletic Director in 2013 before taking the position here at SHA.  Dan Haggart is a great asset to the SHA family! His ...

Courtesy of breakingfourth.com With all of the success the Sacred Heart Irish are experiencing on the hardwood, it's hard to imagine that any Sacred Heart Program can compare in terms of skill or success. But at Sacred Heart, high personal, academic, and athletic standards are not reserved for an exceptional few, they are standards that are upheld day in and day out by many. Nowhere is this dedication to excellence more evident than the Sacred Heart Irish Track & Field Teams. Both squads are coming off of campaigns that wrought Division 4 State Championships. Some may call it, "The Luck of the Irish," but with all of the wins Sacred Heart is racking up on the hardwood and track (just to name two high achieving programs) one cannot help but think that these Irish win their competitions the old-fashioned way. Hard work, dedication, discipline, perseverance, grit. As the Lady Irish are reminiscent of Michael Jordan and his Bulls, the Irish Track-stars can also...

Picture Credits  The Lady Irish have been a hot topic on our blog, but who isn’t talking about them? Some may ask if it truly is, ‘The Luck of the Irish,” but we all know that it is the hard work of this team that has them sitting at a 19-0 record. Last night the Irish played at Beaverton. They brought home the win with the score of 57-43 . Beaverton was a non-conference game. Now, the next question is who has to face this stellar, hot streak team? Breckenridge will be headed to Mt. Pleasant tomorrow for a game time starting at 7:30pm. ALERT … HOME GAME … TOMORROW!! This win streak will hopefully hold up to the Breckenridge Huskies who are coming into the game with a 4-14 record. The Huskies will be looking to cause trouble for our Lady Irish, so come out and support your team! Nothing better to do on a Thursday night then watch some basketball at home! Don’t miss the action and as always, keep us updated on your experiences, thoughts, and comments! ...
